Can You Put Drywall in a Dumpster?
★★★★★ EZ Junk Haul • Waco, TX • Dumpster Rental Guide
If you're remodeling, finishing a basement, or repairing water damage, you'll generate drywall scrap fast. The good news: yes, you can put drywall (also called sheetrock or gypsum board) in a rented dumpster from EZ Junk Haul. Here's how to do it right.
Drywall Is Accepted — With a Few Notes
Standard drywall, sheetrock, and joint compound debris are all accepted in our Waco dumpster rentals. Because drywall is heavier than it looks, plan your size and loading accordingly. A single-room project usually fits a 15 yard dumpster, while a whole-home reno calls for a 20 yard.
Watch the Weight
Drywall adds up quickly. A few hundred square feet of demoed sheetrock can weigh several hundred pounds. Load drywall flat across the bottom of the dumpster and distribute it evenly rather than piling it in one corner. This keeps the load balanced and safe to haul.
What About Wet or Moldy Drywall?
Drywall damaged by a roof leak or plumbing issue is still acceptable as general construction debris in most cases. However, drywall contaminated with hazardous materials — such as asbestos in very old homes — cannot go in a standard dumpster. If your home predates the late 1980s and you're unsure, have it tested before demo.
What Can Go With the Drywall
Drywall pairs well with the rest of your remodel debris: lumber, insulation, trim, flooring, and fixtures. For the full list, see our guide on what can and can't go in a dumpster. As always, no paint, solvents, chemicals, or tires.
